Team Cotton Wraps Up Sahlens Season!

New Era Diamond Girls typically play at Sahlens during the winter season to sharpen their skills and prepare for the summer season. This year Team Cotton had a solid season and the girls have learned so much from their experiences here.

The team played at the 14U level and finished with a record of 5-2 and 1 tie.

Well done girls!

10U Scrimmage Successful!

New Era Diamond Girls Colucci scrimmaged the Clarence Red Devils 10U on Saturday February 19 at New Era Park Depew in front of 40 plus fans.

Clarence jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first at bat, but the Diamond Girls were eager to execute the offense they have been working on in the off season. The Diamond Girls jumped right back with 4 runs of their own to tie it up.

As the scrimmage progressed several heads up plays were made by each squad. Player rotations were successful and the young talent performed well as they gear up for the 2011 season just a few short months away.

Both teams felt the scrimmage was a success!

Jessica Banning To Attend D'Youville College!

Jessica Banning will attend D'Youville college in the fall of 2011. Jess plans on studying in the PT program and will play softball for the Spartans along with current Diamond Girl teammate Ashley McCormick.
Jess attends Amherst High School and plays travel softball for the New Era Diamond Girls.

Jess has been a solid player for the Diamond Girls where she has played for Coach Jim Smith, Ray Hennessy and Chris Swiatek for many years. She has helped the Diamond Girls make several top ten appearances at the national level and teamed up with Meghan Smith to win many tournament titles during her career. In 2010 most of her team had graduated and went off to college, she was able to join up with the younger Diamond Girls and the 2011 graduates where she currently plays. She is currently coached by Larry Colucci, Chris Swiatek and Mitch DelPrince.

No doubt she will be an asset for coach Churchill and the D'Youville Spartans. Jess is a solid pitcher that will keep you off balance at the plate. She also plays outfield and won't let you down at the plate. Jess maintains a team first attitude that is contagious across the bench and on the field.

Congratulations Jess!
