New Era Diamond Girls Colucci Finishes First!

The 10U New Era Diamond Girls-Colucci finished in a thrilling battle for first place in the NFL 10U division. The playoffs were held July 23 at Lou Gehrig. The Diamond Girls won a thriller over the Rochester Lady Lions 1-0 in the last inning. The Amherst Lightning won another thriller over the WNY Sting 3-2 in extra innings. This set up another match up of the top two teams in the 10U Division.
Well what a game it was, the game went into extra innings tied at 3-3. The Lightning scored 1 in the top of the 8th putting the pressure on the Diamond Girls. They responded with a run of their own to tie things up at 4. With a runner on 3rd, 1 out and 2strikes on the batter, all of a sudden with the game on the line and momentum in favor of the Diamond Girls, the lights go black at the park. The game was suspended and picked up on July 25, the earliest date that both rosters could be the same. Well that game went to the top of the 10th tied up and then the Lightning rallied with 2 runs to take a 6-4 lead. The pressure was on these young kids to rally from a size able deficit. Well guess what they did rise with a couple of key hits including a triple to get it tied up and a dreaded pass ball was the deciding run to give the DG's the 7-6 victory in one heck of a game.
Congratulations to Coach Colucci on a job well done with his young team!
